The third annual Data Journalism Awards will culminate in a DJA Ceremony gala dinner at Cosmocaixa on Thursday night to showcase the best of datajournalism all over the world with Minter Dial as Master of Ceremony.
This competition is the first international contest recognising outstanding work in the field of data journalism worldwide. GEN received more than 480 submissions in 2015! After the announcement of the 78 nominees of the competition in May 2015, the Global Editors Network will present the ten winners of the awards during this exclusive ceremony.
The venue features a stunning "Flooded Forest (Bosc inundat)", which recreates 1,000 m2 of an Amazonian rainforest ecosystem and features piranhas, crocodiles and other animal and plant species typical to the zone. The museum building is just as fascinating as its contents. Cosmocaixa is a beautiful example of modernista architecture, designed and built between 1904 and 1909 by Josep Domènech i Estapà. The modern extension carried out in 2004 highlighted the value of the century-old building while placing it in a new context.
